With $100 million under management, North Coast invests through all stages of companies in the enterprise software, e-commerce, manufacturing, distribution and materials science sectors. The firm often targets companies developing niche technologies. North Coast will invest between $500,000 and $4 million over the life of an investment with an initial investment as small as $100,000 in a seed stage or start up company. The firm invests mainly in companies based in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. North Coast is the first venture capital firm in the region to create an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) program. The purpose of the program is to attract, support and fund world-class technology entrepreneurs as they work closely with North Coast to develop new business concepts. During the program, the EIR is a full-time member of North Coast who participates in the venture capital activity of the firm as well as working with the fund to plan their own new venture and recruit their founding team.
