OCA Ventures is a venture capital firm focused on investments in companies with dramatic growth potential, primarily in technology, financial services, for-profit education and technology-enabled services. OCA Ventures is backed by the entrepreneurs who founded and built O'Connor & Associates, the derivatives trading firm that was acquired by Swiss Bank (subsequently UBS). OCA Ventures historically has made direct venture investments as an arm of the O'Connor Partners Investment Office, a major Chicago investment firm. In 2001, OCA Ventures became an independent venture capital firm to build upon the successful direct early stage investment activity of the O'Connor Partners Investment Office. A typical initial investment for OCA Ventures is $1-4M with a target of $3-5M per company (50K-$200K for seed deals). OCA Ventures targets initial rounds of $6M or less. OCA is also opportunistic and will consider smaller and larger deals. The firm typically participates in a company's first round of institutional capital. This may range from seed stage (pre-product, pre-revenue) to expansion stage ($3-8M in revenue, near profitability). OCA Ventures has investments throughout the United States. OCA EDGE is OCA Ventures' seed investing program. OCA EDGE was created in response to the increase of attractive seed-stage investment opportunities and continued decline of the initial capital requirements for technology businesses. OCA EDGE aims to invest amounts of $50K - $200K in rounds of roughly $1.5M or less.
