ONAMI, the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute, is the first Oregon Signature Research Center. A cooperative venture among government and world-class nanoscience and microtechnology R&D institutions and industry in the Northwest, ONAMI was created to cultivate research and commercialization to advance the leading economic sector in Oregon, and expand the benefits of technology innovation to traditional and natural resource industries. ONAMI is developing commercial capabilities for micro- and nanotechnologies as applied to sustainable, clean, green and efficient manufacturing methods, as well as for healthcare, disease detection and prevention. Since its inception, ONAMI's Gap Program has provided $2M in grants to grow micro- and nano based businesses in Oregon, and raised nearly $500M in leveraged funds in its portfolio companies. The ONAMI Gap Fund and Commercialization Program is managed by Dr. Jay Lindquist of Technology Business Development, LLC. Since the inception of its commercialization gap fund in late 2006, ONAMI has invested over $12M in commercialization projects and company investments in multiple sectors including semiconductors, advanced materials, medical devices and precision agriculture.
