The Old Mountain Company is the Family Office for Marshall Field V, a scion of the Chicago family that founded department store Marshall Field. At twenty-four years of age, Marshall Field V took over Field Enterprises Inc., and was elected to be the Publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Daily News. In 1984 Field and his half-brother and co-heir Frederick made the decision to sell the Sun-Times to Australian publisher Rupert Murdoch. Marshall Field V, in deciding with his half brother to sell the Sun-Times and liquidate Field Enterprises. Old Mountain President, John Pirovano, is a brother-in-law of Marshall Field. Field is the fifth generation of a Chicago family whose activities have included merchandising, real estate, publishing, communications, and civic affairs. Mr. Field is a member of the Board of Directors of the Field Foundation of Illinois, World Wildlife Fund, and the Atlantic Salmon Federation.
