Founded in 1996, Petra Capital Partners is a venture capital firm engaged in providing growth capital for companies located throughout the United States. The principals of Petra have invested more than $700 million in 100 high-growth private companies over the past 20 years. The firm is currently investing out of its third fund, closed in March 2008, with $160 million of available capital. Petra invests up to $15 million per company in the form of subordinated debentures with warrants to purchase equity securities. The firm focuses its investment activity in the healthcare and information services sectors, investing in companies with revenues above $10 million and growth rates in excess of 20%. Petra has engaged in financings for growth, acquisition, buyouts and recapitalizations for both private companies and small public companies as an active minority investor.
