Founded in 2001, Pi Capital Group, LLC manages Pi Capital Fund I, LP, which focuses exclusively on early stage technology companies in Western Pennsylvania and the Northeast U.S. Pi invests in the areas of Internet, software, information technology, telecommunications, life sciences, advanced materials, and semiconductor. The firm does not consider real estate, entertainment, consumer goods, and trading. Pi prefers to be involved in the last round of financing (typically a syndicate able to assemble $.5mm to $1.5mm) before a company obtains multiple millions of dollars from a professional investor, be it a venture capital firm, or the investment arm of an industrial concern.
