The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse (PLSG) is a public/private partnership, founded in 2001 by the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, UPMC Health System and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The PLSG provides capital investments, customized company formation, and business growth services to life sciences enterprises, supporting biosciences companies with promising innovations in the following concentrations: Biotechnology Tools, Diagnostics, Healthcare IT, Medical Devices and Therapeutics. The PLSG has two incubator facilities equaling 22,000 square feet of available space for growing companies. The main Incubator is located with PLSG's administrative offices. It is a 13,000 square-foot facility consisting of 40 percent modern wet lab space and 60 percent office space. The second facility, PLSG West, is 9,000 square-feet of mostly laboratory space. The PLSG Investment Funds help seed and early-stage life sciences companies rapidly achieve company formation and technology commercialization milestones. Since forming in 2002, the organization has committed over $19 million into its investment portfolio of 76 life sciences companies, which have attracted over $840 million in additional capital. The firm has $50M in assets under management.
