SEI provides a forum for potentially high-growth companies to present their business plans for the purpose of obtaining capital and advice from qualified business leaders. It was founded by concerned business leaders who wanted to address the fact that Wisconsin ranks 43rd among the states in job growth. Prospective companies must have principal founders that reside in Wisconsin; the outline of the business plan must show a high growth sustainable company; and the requested capital must not exceed $1.5 million. SEI's first investment is Ven-T Boats, a boat builder based in Allenton, Wisconsin. Ven-T Boats has developed a recreational fishing boat featuring a new, patented propulsion technology. Individual Angels typically invest between $25,000 and $100,000 per transaction, in rounds of investment ranging from $250,000 to $750,000.
