Founded in 1982, Saugatuck Associates serves as the investment advisor to the Saugatuck Capital Company Limited Partnerships. Saugatuck Associates is a private investment firm specializing in middle market acquisitions and growth equity investments and is in the process of investing its fourth fund, an SBIC with $125 million in capital. Saugatuck provides capital for LBOs, MBOs, recapitalizations, consolidations and growth. Buyouts range from $15 million to $200 million in purchase price. Though the firm is the lead investor in the majority of its investments, it will co-invest with other lead investors who share the investment philosophy. Saugatuck invests in middle market companies with revenues of $15 to $100 million ($3 million if add-on acquisition) in fragmented service and manufacturing industries. The firm does not invest in high tech, real estate, or financial businesses, start-ups or early stage investments, or turnarounds. Saugatuck Capital has managed four dedicated private equity funds and currently manages five special purpose funds.
