Shalon Ventures invests its intellectual, financial and management resources to raise significant additional capital for mature-stage companies. Targeted investments can deliver major improvements in enhancing the safety and outcome in medical procedures, reducing or eliminating hospitalization, reducing procedural costs, or reducing the skill-set required to perform a procedure. Using its resources and networks in the San Francisco Bay Area, the firm works with clinicians, inventors, academics, entrepreneurs, and venture capital professionals to determine the clinical need of a technology, develop and demonstrate its commercial and technical feasibility, and build the management team that will commercialize it. Shalon invests in its companies directly using the Shalon Ventures fund and raises additional capital through close collaborations with leading life science VC firms. Shalon is particularly interested in clinical and consumer products based on devices, material science, device/material combinations, specialty pharmaceuticals and clinically significant diagnostics. Shalon has a decades long focus on the life sciences which has expanded recently and now includes consumer facing products and services with minimal regulatory hurdles.
