Founded in 1982, Sierra Ventures invests in companies that focus in software, telecommunications, semiconductor, hardware systems, components and subsystems, mobile applications, Internet, technology enabled services, security storage, and energy. Sierra Ventures manages nine venture capital partnerships, which together have more than $2 billion of committed capital and more than 100 successful IPO and M&A exits in the past 37 years. Sierra's investments will be made over several rounds of financing with an initial investment between $2 million and $25 million. Sierra Ventures typically invests in early to mid stage companies, including companies with revenue of $1 million per quarter or more. Sierra also makes seed-stage investments of $500,000 to $2 million in selected companies. Since 2006, Sierra Ventures has been an active, early-stage investor in India and China. The firm's investment focus for these regions includes domestic consumer solutions, advanced technology and enterprise class services offerings.
