Signal Equity Partners is an investment partnership focused on the communications, media, and technology sectors. Signal is a long-term investor that works alongside management to accelerate companies' growth and success. The firm typically looks for businesses that can create sustainable competitive advantages through either high switching costs or economies and a history of at least three years of consistent cash flow. Founded in 1996, Signal has experience in a variety of transaction types, including: leveraged buy-outs, roll-ups, restructurings and secondary purchases of investment portfolios. Signal has launched Signal Telecom Partners and is currently acquiring small rural telephone companies with fewer than 5,000 access lines in several states. The rural telephone sector is in a consolidation process and Signal Telecom Partners hopes to build a company with over 50,000 access lines over the long term.
