Storm Ventures originated in 1997 by a group of entrepreneurs and executives that had worked together for almost a decade at a company called Stratacom, which was founded in 1986. Storm focuses on seed and early stage information technology companies. Historically, the investments Storm makes range from as little as $100,000 to $3,000,000. The firm has made over 180 investments. With over $500 million under management, Storm Ventures limited partners include many prominent financial institutions, as well as over 100 senior executives who have had successful careers in technology companies including Ciena, Cisco, Intel, JDS Uniphase and Juniper Networks. Some of the broad categories Storm invests in are Wireless, Security, Enterprise, Software and Hardware, Virtualization (Networking, Computing, and Storage), Software as a Service, and Web 2.0 Software, Services and Applications.
