Timothy R. Barakett is the Chairman and CEO of TRB Advisors L.P., a private investment firm and family office. TRB invests directly in public and private markets, and provides capital and strategic support to a number of asset managers and specialty finance firms. Prior to founding TRB in 2010, Mr. Barakett was the Founder, Chairman, and C.E.O. of Atticus Capital. Founded solely by Tim Barakett in 1995, Atticus Capital was a diversified alternative asset manager focused on event-driven investments, and in 2007 was one of the largest hedge funds in the world, with assets under management exceeding $20 billion. Atticus Capital's investment funds generated approximately $7 billion in profits for its investors. Before founding Atticus in 1995, Mr. Barakett was a Managing Director at Junction Advisors, an investment management company specializing in risk arbitrage, and earlier in his career, he was a Senior Associate at Battery Ventures, a venture capital firm. Mr. Barakett is a Fellow of the Harvard Corporation, and serves on the boards of Athletic Brewing Company, Commodore Capital, Harvard Management Company, and Rethink Food NYC. Mr. Barakett also serves on the Dean's Advisory Boards at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and the Harvard Business School. Mr. Barakett is an honorary trustee of the New York Public Library, where he previously served as a trustee. Mr. Barakett and his wife, Michele, co-founded the Timothy and Michele Barakett Foundation, a private philanthropic foundation that supports social justice initiatives with an emphasis on those that promote equity and inclusion in the arts, education, and healthcare fields.
