Founded in 1994, the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) is a not-for-profit, full-service incubator located in the Research & Development Park adjacent to Florida Atlantic University. The C. Scott Ellington Technology Business Incubator (TBI) was designated as such in December 2010 by the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University Board of Directors to honor the late Scott Ellington's contributions to developing a sustainable and nurturing environment for entrepreneurs. The TBI currently hosts 20 technology companies in the early stages of development in various industries such as pharmaceutical development, software and app development, and advanced electrical engineering applications. TBI is also home to the Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research. This entity was created by the State Legislature in 2007 to act as a central repository for all of the commercialization-ready technology from the Technology Transfer Offices of the eleven state universities.
