The Fabric is an incubator located near Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA with an interest in networking, cloud, and mobile computing startups. Through the initial stage, the Fabric engages with entrepreneurs to help them refine their product concept. Once there is a viable business model, the firm provides seed financing of $1.5M to $2M, and actively works with the entrepreneurs for six months. After the six months, the company will have a complete team, an advanced prototype, market validation, and a business plan. The Fabric co-creates companies with entrepreneurs, funds and launches the companies through to Series A investment. The Fabric was founded in 2012 by industry experts Rajan Raghavan, Prabakar Sundarrajan, and Sumant Mandal, and has since co-created eight companies, of which three have already been acquired: VeloCloud acquired by VMware, Perspica acquired by Cisco, and Appcito acquired by A10 Networks.
