The Women's Capital Connection (WCC) is a regional network of accredited angel investors dedicated to identifying and funding the most promising start-up business opportunities in the Kansas-Missouri region. The Women's Capital Connection officially launched in January, 2008 with 33 founding investors committed to investing in women-led ventures in our region. Since 2008, 125 women investors have been involved in supporting angel investing and over 2,000 women-led ventures have inquired about angel funding, with 157 companies moving forward for investor presentations. Sixty-six women-led ventures have applied for angel funding with 17 companies moving forward for investor presentations. To date, 25 companies have received funding, with over $5 million dollars contributed to the region. WCC has two primary objectives: 1) To present high return on investment funding opportunities to its members; 2) To facilitate access to early-stage financing for high-potential women led businesses and entrepreneurs. WBC provides access to capital, education, and resources to women entrepreneurs at every stage of business development through business counseling, seminars, classes, & workshops, networking and mentoring. In operation since July 2000, Kansas Women's Business Center is a resource community designed to help women entrepreneurs grow their business by developing, consulting and mentoring women entrepreneurs at all stages of their business. WCC will consider firms with the following criteria: early stage companies that offer exceptional opportunities for high returns on investment, an opportunity with the potential for rapid, scalable growth, proprietary technology, early market lead, or other strong barriers to entry, a credible exit strategy, and a location within a 150-mile radius of Kansas City.
