Founded in 1998, Tonka Bay Equity Partners is a private equity firm based in Minnetonka, Minnesota with $350 million of capital under management. The firm is licensed as a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC). Tonka Bay acquires and invests in niche manufacturing, value-added distribution, and business services companies with EBITDA greater than $2 million and revenue at at least $10 million. Tonka Bay Equity Partners is the sponsor of two private equity funds: Bayview Capital Partners I&II. The latter Fund began operations in October 2005 with $125 million of combined capital, and Tonka Bay is actively seeking investments for Bayview II. Bayview Capital Partners I began investing in January 1999 with $75 million of available capital. Bayview I invested in 15 portfolio companies and continues to support the growth of its remaining companies. Tonka Bay Equity Partners invests $4 million to $10 million in growth-oriented companies for management buyouts, for shareholder liquidity, to complete acquisitions, and to support growth and expansion. The firm does not invest in financial institutions, real estate, restaurants, or retail. On October 31, 2010, the firm announced the closing of a $150 million investment fund.
