Trimaran Capital Partners is a private investment firm that operates in three business lines: Trimaran Fund Management, which manages a middle-market private equity fund; Trimaran Advisors, which manages collateralized loan obligations that invest in below investment-grade corporate debt; and Trimaran Credit Managers, which as sub-advisor to Trian Fund Management LP, manages the day-to-day investment activities of a number of funds established to make credit based investments. Trimaran Fund Management is a middle-market private equity firm that seeks long-term capital appreciation by making privately negotiated equity or equity-oriented investments in niche middle-market companies. Trimaran typically invests $25 to $100 million of equity in transactions ranging in value from under $100 million to $1 billion. Since 1995, Trimaran has invested $1.6 billion of equity in more than 60 portfolio companies in transactions totaling in excess of $10 billion. As an innovator, the firm and its predecessor was an early investor in telecom and Internet businesses, leading the first LBO of an integrated electric utility, TNP Enterprises, the parent of Texas-New Mexico Power Company. More recently, Timaran has made investments in electric transmission, ethnic consumer businesses, and special education.
