Triple Five is the Family Office for the Ghermezian Family of Canada. The Ghermezian family is a Persian Jewish family. The patriarch of the family, Jacob Ghermezian (1902 - January 3, 2000) moved from Iran to Canada with his four sons in 1964. Triple Five Worldwide Group of Companies has developed, owns and manages the world's first, second and third largest tourism, retail and entertainment complexes of its kind; West Edmonton Mall in Canada, Mall of America in the United States, and American Dream in Metropolitan New York. Triple Five, through its affiliate T5 Equity Partners, makes private equity and venture capital investments. Where possible, T5 looks for investment opportunities which complement and/or leverage other areas of Triple Five's investment focus, including real estate development, retail, hospitality, banking and financial services. further, T5 looks for companies which would benefit from high level business and governmental relationships around the world. With regard to venture capital investments, Triple Five is interested in high-growth opportunities and generally seeks to invest in companies that have significant recurring revenues, as well as a reasonable path to profitability. On the private equity side, Triple Five focuses on control investments or buyouts of companies with strong management teams and outstanding growth prospects. Triple Five looks for companies that have unique or interesting products with a defensible business model and are also interested in companies which may be in financial distress or bankruptcy, provided the above criteria are met.
