Since its inception in 1981, US Venture Partners (USVP) has invested over $4.1 billion in about 511 companies. The majority of the firm's investment activities fall into three categories: information technology, life science and technologies for adapting to or mitigating climate change. Areas of current focus include energy-related products and services, semiconductors, web-enabled services for businesses and consumers, storage, wireless communication, sustainable agriculture, biomedical devices and new drugs with profound social benefits. The firm's dollar commitment ranges from an initial $500,000 seed investment to a $10,000,000 later stage investment, but on average it invests $4-5 million. USVP tends to focus on opportunities that are geographically close to its offices in Menlo Park. USVP looks to invest in markets in excess of $1 billion in revenue potential and rarely invests in markets less than $300 million. December of 2015, the firm announced the closing of USVP XI, a $300M fund. USVP has led early-stage investments in 86 companies that have completed initial public offerings.
