Founded in 1968, Union Capital Corporation and its affiliates have in excess of $300MM in capital available for new transactions. In lower middle-market businesses, Union Capital employs a 'ferryboat concept' of developing smaller companies (companies of $3 million to $20 million of EBITDA) into attractive acquisition targets for larger buyout groups and strategic buyers. In middle-market businesses, Union Capital's principals have successfully managed businesses as large as $800 million in revenues, taken four public companies private, taken two companies public, and executed leveraged build-ups. Union Capital targets investments in middle market businesses in which the firm can leverage its industry or situational expertise to build value. Such industries and situations include: Food products & services, Marketing services, Business services, Printing and printing-related services, Consumer products, Telecom services, Public-to-private transactions, and Contrarian situations. While traditional private equity firms are bound by a 3 to 7 year time horizon, Union Capital has held some of its investments for over thirty years. The firm targets prospective companies with $20-200 million in revenue. The firm announced (July of 2017) it closed its second fund, Union Capital Equity Partners II, L.P., at its hard cap of $200 million.
