Vector Capital was originally spun out of Ziff Brothers Investments, a family investment firm. Today, Vector Capital is a value investor in established technology businesses, both public and private. Vector works in partnership with management to navigate companies through transitions in their business. As a private investor, Vector spins out non-core businesses from corporations, buys founder-owned companies, and fixes balance sheets through recapitalizations. As a public investor Vector takes strategic stakes in undervalued companies. Vector bridges both worlds by taking public companies private, when appropriate. Vector Capital was founded in 1997 and is based in San Francisco, and currently manages over $4 billion in equity capital. New investments are being made by Vector Capital IV, a $1.2 billion fund raised in 2007. The firm's portfolio consists of public and private technology companies, investing in companies that have at least $30 million in revenue.
