Founded in 1986, and formerly known as The Ben Craig Center, the Ventureprise accelerator is located in the Charlotte Research Institute's PORTAL building on the campus of UNC Charlotte. Ventureprise offers startup and growth-stage companies an affordable space where they can share ideas and insights, trust and expertise, markets and strategies, networks and connections. PORTAL is a newly constructed building offering Ventureprise clients configurable space, ranging from single offices to 4,000 square foot suites. Clients benefit from fully furnished facilities plus turnkey services and access to university resources such as the research library, lab space and other campus resources. Among several initiatives, the Charlotte Venture Challenge is a business competition for early-stage, high potential companies.
