The Vertical Group is a venture capital firm that is focused on the fields of medical technology and biotechnology. Founded in 1988, Vertical Group manages private partnerships with a 'vertical' range of investments including: early and late stage venture companies; private operating companies involved in buy-out or corporate spin-off transactions; and public companies of all sizes. The scale of The Vertical Group's investment depends on the nature of the transaction, with investment size ranging from $250K to $5M in venture capital transactions, to over $10M in buyout or public stock transactions. The Vertical Group's private partnerships have an 'evergreen' structure (i.e. without a defined life), and fifty percent of Vertical's partnership capital is represented by the firm's four founding General Partners and two Special Limited Partners. The Vertical Group is the successor to the venture capital division of F. Eberstadt & Co., and has been an independent firm since 1988. Vertical has an additional office in Silicon Valley. For more than 30 years, the principals of The Vertical Group have been founders, early stage investors, major shareholders, and executives of many of the medical technology industry's most successful companies.
