Founded in 1987, Wingate purchases controlling equity investments in manufacturing, distribution and service businesses, typically with revenues between $50 and $250 million, $5 million-$25 million in EBITDA. Wingate's total transaction size generally ranges from between $25 million and $150 million. Wingate has managed four funds with total capital of approximately $500 million. Wingate Partners IV, LP was formed in late 2006 with approximately $200 million of capital. The firm seeks to acquire businesses in either of two categories: Under-performing companies (which includes those with substandard operating performance) or Industries in transition (which have solid operating performance but are in industries undergoing significant change). Wingate targets manufacturing, distribution and service businesses with a significant market share position. All industries are considered except banking, insurance, real estate, media, natural resources, and high technology. Wingate has acquired platform companies in 25 industries and completed a total of 78 acquisitions. The cumulative revenues of these companies exceeds $7 billion. The firm invests in companies headquartered in the United States.
