EDC is South Florida's only regional entrepreneurial support organization. With an exclusive focus on early stage science and technology companies, EDC is a nonprofit organization that leverages its vast resource network to provide companies the tools they need in order to grow and succeed. As South Florida's clearinghouse for entrepreneurs, EDC offers the BusinessLINC mentor/protege program, manages the Technology Business Incubator located in the Florida Atlantic University Research & Development Park, and produces two major conferences each year to provide increased visibility for young companies. Founded in 1994, EDC's overall economic impact has been in excess of $500 million. EDC is a true public/private partnership that is supported by government grants as well as the generosity of corporate sponsors. EDC assists nearly 300 companies each year. Tenants of the incubator must be a technology-based business with a definable relationship, with FAU or an FAU Research Park company, and have the ability to pay monthly rental fees. Through key initiatives and vast resource networks, EDC helps companies thrive and create a cumulated total of 50 jobs per year.
