    Preston-Werner Ventures is a private investment vehicle for Thomas Preston-Werner (born October 28, 1979), an American billionaire software developer and entrepreneur. The firm is committed to making investments in order to advance justice and dignity, as well as responsible living on the planet. Preston-Werner is best known as the founder and former CEO of GitHub, a repository web-based hosting service, which he co-founded in 2008 with Chris Wanstrath and PJ Hyett. Microsoft bought the company for $7.5 billion in 2018. According to Forbes, Preston-Werner is worth just shy of $2 billion. Preston-Werner Ventures currently funds projects at the intersection of social justice and climate change. The firm invests in solutions to remove and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere so that Planet Earth will be habitable for generations to come.
