Slate Venture Group is a private equity investment group based in Baltimore, Maryland. Slate invests at all stages of a company's life cycle, from growth equity investing to leveraged buyouts, and is focused on companies headquartered in the Eastern half of the United States. The principals of Slate have significant experience in both running small- to mid-sized companies and investing in venture capital and leveraged buyout transactions. Slate's approach is to acquire/invest in one or two new companies per year and focus on their success, rather than striving for a larger volume of deals and a 'portfolio' return. Slate targets manufacturing, distribution and service businesses; all industries will be considered except banking, real estate, and natural resources; preferred industries include business services, distribution, light manufacturing, direct marketing, food & beverage, and consumer and retail investments.
