StartX is a 501(c)(3) Stanford-affiliated nonprofit in Silicon Valley that runs one of the world's top startup accelerator programs. It was founded by Cameron Teitelman in 2011. It began as a spin-off of Stanford Student Enterprises, the non-profit financial arm of the Associated Students of Stanford University, which sponsored earlier events called SSE Labs in 2009 and then SSE Ventures. The program's mission is to advance the development of the best entrepreneurs through experiential education and collective intelligence. Since 2009, StartX has supported hundreds of companies and entrepreneurs across a wide spectrum of industries. StartX provides founders with access to a powerful network of entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and industry partners. StartX Accelerator requires no fees and takes zero equity. The program's fund (of uncapped amount) was created to invest in current and alumni StartX companies. To receive an investment from Stanford, StartX companies must raise at least $500,000 on their own from professional angel investors or venture capitalists. StartX is a collection of 1200+ serial entrepreneurs, industry experts, tenured Stanford professors, and 700+ well-funded growth-stage startups.
