Created in 2004 and located in downtown Syracuse, the $3.5 million Tech Garden is a specially constructed facility covers 33,000 square feet and is a regular gathering spot for aspiring entrepreneurs, early stage investors, and creative individuals seeking to connect with others to share their passion for technology and business. In addition to facilitating the growth and development of early stage technology companies, the Technology Garden offers its facilities to the public for use for meetings conferences, and gatherings. The Tech Garden is an affiliate of the CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity, a twelve-county business leadership and economic development organization. Since it was launched in 2005, The Tech Garden has assisted more than 500 entrepreneurs and its state-of-the-art incubator is now home to 35 early-stage ventures that have drawn investment capital and top talent from across New York State, as well as from Ireland, Israel, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Tech Garden incubation companies currently employ more than 150 people, with a payroll of more than $5 million. The Clean Tech Center is a NYSERDA-funded clean energy incubation program located at The Tech Garden, providing an integrated infrastructure for the incubation and acceleration of companies developing clean energy and renewable energy technologies. Another initiative, Grants for Growth, is a seed program that provides up to $75,000 in matching funds for innovative applied research projects between universities and industries that have the potential to accelerate the growth of emerging technology companies. GENIUS NY is the world's largest business accelerator competition for unmanned systems, IoT and big data. The accelerator invests more than $3 million in five startups each year.
