Yorktown Partners is an independently owned and operated asset management firm dedicated to making equity investments in private companies within the energy sector. The business was established in 1991 while the firm's founders, all of whom are still fully engaged at the firm, worked at Dillon, Read & Co. Inc., a privately owned investment banking firm where the first two Yorktown investment partnerships were initiated. In 1997, Dillon Read was sold to Swiss Bank Corp. and as part of the sale, the Yorktown founders purchased the business. The Yorktown staff invest as both GPs and LPs in each Partnership.
